WHAT'S THIS???? WINTERSET, IOWA????? MUST GO!!!!!!

Winterset is the birthplace of Marion Robert Morrison and this is the house where he was born,  WHO? Marion Robert Morrison is better known as JOHN WAYNE, the 'DUKE'.

They have a great museum of all thing of John Wayne,  This is a statue of the man at the entrance to the museum.  If you are in IOWA, you should visit this town of WINTERSET.  Every year on John Wayn's birthday, May 26th, the town has a large celebration.  Wayne's daughter attends.

This is the court house of Winterset.  There is a square around the court house of very old, remolded store fronts, 90% occupied.  Each Building had a plaque, telling when the buiding was built and what type of stores occupy the space.

This caught my eye.  A walk in movie theater, that is still in operation.

These are the films schedled for this summer. Oldies but goodies.

OH!  Did I mention that Winterset is in the county of MADISON.   Like 'THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY'.   Yes movie was filmed in WINTERSET.  This is one of the three bridges used in the film.  This is located in the city park.  I spoke with one of the locales and she explain, where different scenes were shot .  The farm house she said was located closer to Des Moines about 20 minutes north of Winterset.
