I began the day starting my second 1000 miles into my adventure. First 1000 miles behind me.
- This photo shows a house of that era.More of the buildings with all the store one would need like blacksmith, general store, tin shop, veterinary service, etc.On the same grounds, they had establish what a railroad city would look like in the 1890s.This photo shows early equipment used by women to do their hair. Left is a hair drier. Right is a hair curling equipment and to the left a picture showing a new way to wash hair. This photo shows early switch board. The exhibit explains that they tried to used men as switch board operators, but learned that men lost their temper to much so they turned women as the operator. They hired women who were educated, from well todo families. The second floor, has exhibits of way of life from 1860-1930s. Like this windmill. The exhibit on first floor was about the Great Gatbsby time. Let me try to explain. Gatsby time was 1920's. The exhibits shows photos taken in Grand Island during the 1920s, showing the same events that was told in the book. This show a Ford 1925 Model T Touring car, like the one used by Gatsby..This is inside of the building. Beautiful staircase leading to the second floor. Water fountains on either side of walk way. This the outside of the STUHR MUSEUM in Grand Island, Nebraska. Quite impressive. There is a large moat around the building. This building has has 2 floors. Two separate exhibits.
- I got this Photo out of place, but this was in the museum. I thought this was interesting. This is sales tool. Windmill sales men would take this to different town in Nebraska, to show the people what the windmill would look like and explain how the windmill would work. If some one bought one, the salesman would send order to his company, the windmill would be delivered and the farmer would have to build it. The photo below tells more of the STUHR museum. The Photo at the bottom show a tool use by early Farmers in Nebraska. What is it?
